Yesterday, feeling the nip of the wanderlust bug, I did what I always do; go to travelocity and look up vacations that I can't possibly afford. Not particularly productive, but oddly soothing none the less. Long story short, I was browsing fares to Vancouver, Seattle and the like and daydreaming about a fanciful jaunt to my beloved pacific northwest when I came about an amazing deal from Austin to PDX...on my BIRTHDAY! 160.00 round trip. Hell. Yes.

Needless to say I booked the flight posthaste! So....My birthday weekend (Oct. 17-20) + Portland love= one happy effin Sarah!

We'll be leaving Friday, 17th October at 6:55 AM (an UN-GODLY hour, i know!) and will arrive in the city of love and roses around 11:20 AM.

We booked the crazy coolest hotel as well on NW Northrup, which is all suite and just perfectly located...

Adobe CS4 is coming soon. I just got CS3, i don't know, like 5 months ago. Unless I get some rad student discount, the shiny new one will have to wait. I did register for the live webcast unveiling of the software, so i can see what 'one' new feature has been added to each of the programs. probably, though, they just made it incompatible with powerpc macs (my poor G4!) and updated the icons. if that is the case, poop on them! we shall see ....

Nearly 2 years without an update? Jeepers! Fret ye not, oh live journalers! Fret ye not for I have returned! New and improved! (No, I did not get a boob job.)

Okay, here's the skinny

I am now living in Austin with Jamison in a super little house in a fecking rad neighbourhood. Our neighbours include a bluegrass musician (who's giving me banjo lessons!) and his kick arse Irish-Canadian wife, some wacky hippie types that wander into our backyard occasionally, and a whole slew of artsy types. Oh, and we have a moat! Well, when it rains we have a moat, every other day it's just a dried out ravine with a bridge across it. Still, when it's full, it keeps the black knight at bay. I'll share some photos as soon as I get a new charger for my camera battery. The musician and wife live right next door to us, so if they are milling about in their yard on Fridays or Saturdays, and we are bored, we typically migrate over there and a hootenany or jamboree (depending on how many people are there), complete with live music, lots of hootin' and hollerin' (and on the musician's part, chair throwing...but in a good way.) and booze, usually ensues. I don't think that one has ever ended earlier than 3 AM.

In May, I began taking classes that will go toward my associate's degree in Graphic Design. For the summer intersession, I am taking Illustration, Algebra (ick.) and I just completed History of Communication Graphics which was a short 5 1/2 week class that I got an A in. YAY! Next semester will be the fun stuff: Vector Graphics for Production (Adobe Illustrator), Digital Imaging (Photoshop) and Intro to Visual Arts. Okay, the last class sounds sorta dull, but it will be an 8 week course, and it doesn't start until October 20th, while my other classes begin August 25th, or something like that.

Despite my hesitation, I have become quite addicted to Battlestar Galactica. I didn't want to get into another series, especially while I'm in school and given how easily distracted I am by things when I should be studying. But it happened, and...woah. I love that damn show. Jamison bought season 1, we stayed up watching it on Friday night, and Saturday we went out and got season 2. Now, not able to afford to shell out 30+ bucks for a DVD set for a few weeks, I am stuck without it. I'd netflix it, but currently, my netflix is tied up with a ton of Doctor Who (since the DVD sets are nearly 90 bucks and I haven't been able to find it for cheaper than 80 online..) and Torchwood.

Speaking of netflix, how is it that I sent my movies back on Friday, they sent me an email on Saturday stating that they had received them, but they STILL haven't shipped my next 4??? WTF! All 4 of the movies were supposedly 'available now', but alas, haven't been sent.

Okay, that's my little dork tirade.

I went to the dentist last Thursday because of terribly sore gums around the area of my wisdom tooth that only allowed me to drink my meals and didn't allow for sleep. Turns out, my wisdom tooth is growing in sideways and the gums at the site had become infected. I got some antibiotics and am going in for a consultation with an oral surgeon in a week. The pain was largely due to the infection, which the antibiotics have cleared up, but, they have wreaked havoc on my stomach. It's been a chore keeping anything down for the past few days, and I HATE throwing up. I'm one of those people who get sick seeing others get sick, so I have been absolutely miserable lately. I called the doctor, but he said it is normal for some people to react that way to this particular antibiotic, and to keep taking them. Blargh-o-plex.

Yeah...so, if you stayed with me through all of that, pat yourself on the back!! And now, you will be rewarded, for I don't feel like writing anymore right now!

hey kiddos.
hope everyone out there in LJ land is doing spiffy. things on my end are going excellently, dispite a kind of rough past two days at work...nothing big or dramatic, i guess i just need a day or two or seven off. :) i will get my time off for this great event in austin next thursday. i can't wait to get away for a few days, see some friends,listen and dance to some great music during the day, ride bikes drunkenly through the streets of austin at night, and make some kissy face under the hot texas sun with jamison. should be a blast. lord knows i need to get out of town for a while.
